how's your summer going so far?
my seedlings are all gone for the garden due to the possum
but stuff i planted out there is ok
my turnips all bolted with the heat
the lettuces seem to be holding their own
we'll harvest again this week
we've been doing salads
and grilling meats for the week on sunday.....or doing a crock pot roast to shred for suppers all week
anything to keep the house cooler

  1. My youngest son is in the middle of moving back home (he is 20). His roommate is getting married, and he can't afford the apartment on his own.

I have everything planted except sweet potato, which is about ready to plant. My lettuce is just about ready to start harvesting. The peas are getting their first blossoms, the beans are popping up, and so are the beets. It was 66 degrees 2 days ago (39 at night), 76 today, heading for 80 in about a week. I think winter is finally over, although it did rain a lot the night before last. My green grape vine winter killed, so I will need to replace it. It produced 2 1/2 five gallon buckets of grapes last year, but there isn't a single leaf on it now.

DH is interviewing for a lot of jobs, it is the season to hire people in higher ed, that is his auditing specialty. Don't know if anyone will offer him anything, he is 60, so they usually think he is too old. Trouble is, we need a job, it has been 16 months now, and we aren't ready to do without a paycheck.

Hope your garden does well, and good luck with the vet.
